Luxury Kitchen Finishing Touches

My involvement is virtually over.  Your new kitchen exists.  You've lots of well-planned storage, everything's in place; so you can stand back to admire the superb cabinetry, vast expanse of worktops, gleaming appliances, a floor to dance on, artfully designed lighting, the sparkling wall tiles…. Mike Taylor

WE did this, between us!   You and I have delivered the dream!   So now it's time to turn a beautiful kitchen into YOUR beautiful kitchen.

Here are some people who might help you....

Antique Clock

Roger Lascelles has a range of wall clocks ideal for the kitchen.  Have a look at the website www.rogerlascelles.com.  Alternatively for genuine antique wall clocks try www.davewestclocks.co.uk where you'll find a marvellous collection.  Or if you'd like a unique, custom-made clock, the artist Kathleen Fairey has some quite startling creations.  A visit to her website www.kfcl.co.uk. is always worthwhile.

You'll want your signature dish cooked in something special so take a look at jean-patrique.co.uk.  Alternatively the Italian flair for design is truly in evidence at www.alessi.co.uk, or, as a final suggestion, you might find that www.justcooking.co.uk. have just what you want.

As for kitchen knives, www.cooks-knives.co.uk is a good place to start.  Beyond that there's a wonderful collection of Japanese knives (great for sushi) at www.nipponkitchen.com   And I grew up using knives made by Viners so have a look at their ranges on www.Viners.co.uk.

Glass ware for a special occasion is found at www.forevercrystal.co.uk and at www.mulberryhall.co.uk.  They both offer very special products, and before filling your glass you might be amused by www.cocktailtimes.com where you'll learn how to avoid a hangover along with much else - for example if you're tired of gin and tonic you might try a Mudslide or a Lemongrass Ginger Collins.

If part of my brief was to create a feeling of light and space I may have already used mirrors in your kitchen, but if you're looking to add to the effect www.bespokemirrors.com is worth a visit.  So too are www.exclusivemirrors.co.uk and www.PremiumHomeMirrors.com.

You and I will have made sure that the lighting is exactly as you wanted in your kitchen, but if it prompted ideas for elsewhere in the house you might have a word with my friend John Roberts.  I swear John can bend light around corners.  You'll see what I mean if you look at his website www.lightplan.org

Then there's art!   The trend to combine kitchen and dining room brings with it the wider use of art on the walls.  Of course common sense is needed; any painting positioned near a hob should be protected by glass for obvious reasons.   What I've seen used to stunning effect in kitchens is wall art in metal and glass, and you'll see what I mean if you look at www.jazzitupinteriors.co.uk

Art is so subjective that I wouldn't presume to advise any of our Clients, but my sister represents more than a hundred contemporary artists, and also lectures at Sothebys, so invariably I bow to her judgement.  She tells me she is creating a special page on her website for art in the kitchen.   Try her on www.karentaylorgallery.com.   I was in the Gary Rhodes restaurant in Dublin recently and saw some of Deborah Donnelly's work (see Karen's site) on the wall, so an artist who suits Gary's dining room might also suit yours.

I'll add to this list whenever I find a product or service that might interest you - or if you'd like to add to it please let me know.   Meanwhile I look forward to helping put the finishing touches to your kitchen.   To take the first step please call me on 0207 808 0122 or send me an email.

Best wishes,

Mike Taylor

PS    Don't forget we allow Clients to retain a massive 30% of the cost of installation for three whole months after completion - because we know they'll be delighted with every aspect of their new kitchen.
